Google’s commitment to Android Auto is a rare one, as the company releases a new update every fortnight. It has not been long since Android 12.1 arrived for stable users before the company started rolling Android 12.2 to the beta group. Interestingly, the tech company is done with the beta phase as they begin pushing the Android Auto 12.2 stable update to eligible users.
Android Auto works on devices running Android 8 and later. You can download the app if your device meets the primary requirement, and of course, it only works on a car infotainment system. Google keeps rolling out a new update to address issues and improve performance, but it’s hard to say what’s on each new build as they don’t come with a changelog.
Nevertheless, we know the Android Auto 12.2 stable update does not come with any major changes. While Google is working on new features, they are yet to start rolling out, and we believe the latest updates are preparing the app for these future additions. We recommend installing the update when prompted, which you can download through the Google Play store.
Android Auto will soon support YouTube and other media apps. Google, we understand, is working on working these apps on Android Auto using the same approach as Android Automotive. You can only run a YouTube app when the car is parked, and we understand why it’s so. Unfortunately, there is no ETA for the arrival, and we haven’t seen the feature on the beta channel yet, meaning the release might still be far away.

So far, there are no issues with the update, but you can always uninstall if you encounter any difficulties after installing the new update.
