Google is pushing a new Android Auto update to the beta channel. It’s the first step before the public rollout, as few people get to test the build. If there are no major software issues, the update is released to the public. However, it means we can’t say much about what the current update brings as the availability has been limited.
Android Auto has received loads of updates and has continued till now. With the frequent reports received from users, Google is trying to resolve these issues, and that’s why we see a new Android Auto update more often. The latest Android Auto 12.5 beta update is no different from other releases as it comes without a changelog. It’s hard to say what’s on the build, but we believe it focuses on system improvement and bug fixes.
Meanwhile, we understand Google is working to integrate radio into Android Auto. Currently, you would exit Android Auto UI and use the car’s infotainment software to access the radio. Google wants to eliminate the distractions of switching between the two UIs, but it is unclear how the company plans to achieve that. We hope to learn more about that in the coming weeks, and hopefully, it won’t be too far.
Those who wish to install the Android Auto 12.5 beta update but are not part of the beta program can download the APK file. Yes, the app works fine once you have completed the installation. Remember, you can uninstall the app and move to an older version if you encounter any issues.
