Android Auto 12.9 beta update is now available

Android Auto logo

Google continues to release new Android Auto updates to resolve issues and optimize performance. The app seems the most buggy app out of all the Google apps, and while we see a new update every fortnight, they don’t seem to do much. Whether these updates fix the existing issue and then introduce a new one remains unknown. Google does not help either, as they don’t include a changelog with each release.

Android Auto 12.9 beta update

Google is rolling out Android Auto 12.9 beta to beta testers. Of course, it doesn’t come with a changelog, making it difficult to say what is included in the update. However, we understand no user-facing changes were spotted in this release, meaning it focuses on system optimization and bug fixes.

We anticipate new changes for Android Auto in the coming week, and perhaps, Google plans to release them after the launch of Android 15. The tech company is working on a few additions for Android Auto, integrating radio and support for removable drives. These are still in the beta phase, with stable release expected in the coming weeks.

While we wait for these new features, we recommend installing the latest update. Android Auto users have reported some issues. The latest one seems exclusive to Pixel 9 users, where the app won’t work. The Connection problems experienced by some people and the inability to use voice commands. We expect the latest release to address these bugs, though we can’t say for sure as there is no change log.

How to download Android Auto 12.9 beta update

Google has limited the release to a few individuals registered for its beta program. Luckily, it doesn’t stop you from installing the update but you are responsible for any bug you might encounter. The update is a pre-release build as Google looks for feedback from testers. We expect a wider availability in the coming days, but you can download the APK file from here
