A couple of days ago, Xiaomi bumped the Mi A2 Lite security patch level to July and has now started rolling out that of August. That’s typical of Xiaomi, rolling out a timely security patch update, at least, to the device on its Android One program. And for whatever reason, why the July patch arrived late, they’re making that up.
It’s exactly nine days since the device received the current build, and now, the August security patch update for Mi A2 Lite starts arriving. The update, as usual, is for system optimization and stability, as well as fixing those annoying bugs left by the Android 10 update.
Meanwhile, the update doesn’t seem to have fixed any of the underlying bugs. Going by the feedback on the Mi community forum, the pixel notification is still seen in the device settings. But luckily, it didn’t introduce a new bug, which is commendable given the events of the past.
A few weeks ago, users of the Mi A3 received an update that broke the Dual-SIM functionality, added two Telcel apps as system apps, while messing up the boot animation. The issue has since been resolved, and according to Xiaomi, it was for the Mexican units but was mistakenly rolled out to global users. All these bugs, including the hiccups with OS updates, is probably why the company is taking a break this year from the Android One program, and will not release the Mi A4.
Meanwhile, the August security patch update for Mi A2 Lite is currently arriving for random users. The reason is for them to preview the update, and if it’s not buggy, then the wider rollout will commence. It has a version number, V11.0.10.0 QDLMIXM, and will progressively run on all eligible devices.
