Xiaomi is rolling out a point upgrade of HyperOS 2. The Chinese company is rolling out HyperOS 2.1, but they are eager to make more changes and improve stability with HyperOS 2.2. While Xiaomi has improved the stability of its Android skin, it does not take away all the issues, just as other OS out there. However, the automatic device shutdown/restart is a serious one, something the company should look to fix as soon as possible.
Automatic Device Shutdown/restart

One of the reasons Xiaomi switched to HyperOS was to allow all its devices to run the same OS. According to the company, it will allow smooth connection across all their devices, including Cars, which is understandable. So far, HyperOS has done an amazing job linking the Xiaomi ecosystem, thanks to the Xiaomi HyperConnect that arrived with HyperOS 2.
However, many Redmi Watch 5 users are reporting an issue. The smartwatch, which launched in September 2024 with HyperOS, has been receiving regular updates, but the latest one appears to be causing problems.
According to the latest HyperOS weekly bug report, Redmi Watch 5 Lite users are experiencing an automatic shutdown/restart. The problem started after a recent upgrade that arrived with version number V5.2.147. While the company has acknowledged the bug, there is no workaround or fix. They are still figuring out why the device is shutting down.
The only way to ensure your Redmi Watch 5 Lite does not start shutting down automatically, is by avoiding the V5.2.147 update. If you are already running the build, expect a new update that will resolve the issue.
The control center animation disappeared.
One of the downsides of buying a mid-range phone is the lack of resources, which often leads to some features being taken away. It is not the first time a feature has disappeared from Xiaomi phones. However, the company has confirmed it was intentional, unlike before you have to figure that out.
Hence, if you notice the Control Center animation has disappeared, it is not a bug but rather “by design.” Xiaomi disabled it on the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and POCO X6 5G. You can continue seeing the animation if you do not upgrade your device to OS2.0.6.0.VNRMIXM, OS2.0.4.0.VNRINXM or OS2.0.6.0.VNREUXM.
Theme app issues
The Xiaomi Theme app has loads of nice options, but oftentimes, it encounters a new problem. However, the latest issues of not responding have been fixed. It seems to be a server-side update since no update was released to address it.
