Android Auto is one of the most supported Google Apps in terms of updates but the most buggy. A new update is released almost every fortnight, which often introduces a new bug instead of resolving the existing ones. Perhaps the case with the latest Android Auto update, which seems to have broken Audio on Pixel phones.
Google released the December 2024 Feature Drop for Pixel phones a few days ago. It arrived with some features, improved performance, resolved bugs, and a new Android Auto build. However, it does not look like it did enough for Android Auto users, as they report a new problem.
Some Pixel phone users are reporting broken audio after the last update. Audio from music and podcast apps are not pass through to the car. According to reports, Pixel 9, Pixel 8, and Pixel series phones are all affected.
The problem seems common to users with a wired connection, and it’s being experienced across multiple apps. These include Spotify, Pocket Casts, and Tune in. As usual, the broken audio is limited to only a few users. We also understand it might be a temporary glitch, as some people said the audio started working again after some days.
How to fix broken Audio on Android Auto
Google has yet to acknowledge the problem and we do not think they will given that it’s limited to a few devices. Nevertheless, a new Android Auto update was released a few days ago. We recommend installing the update or you uninstall a recent update you installed. That will probably resolve the problem.
