Xiaomi Redmi users can’t send or download files on WhatsApp

With a new OTA update comes some frustrating bugs sometimes. Some Xiaomi users have taken to the Community app to voice their anger about the latest problem with their device. They can’t send or download files on WhatsApp, but it seems exclusive to a particular device and region.

can't send or download files on WhatsApp

Xiaomi released a new update to the Redmi Note 11S 5G in Europe. The update has a version number OS1.0.3.0.TGLEUXM. After the upgrade, many people noticed they couldn’t send files like images or videos using WhatsApp. Interestingly, if someone sends you a file using another device, it won’t download.

It’s not an issue with WhatsApp, as no other phone brand has the problem. Perhaps the new update has broken something on the device, making it unable to send or download files on WhatsApp.

Xiaomi has acknowledged the issue, but they have yet to say what’s causing it. The company is still working on a fix and will probably roll out an automatic update to resolve the issue. While we wait for a fix, if you have yet to download the affected build, we recommend you avoid it and wait for the next one.

Meanwhile, the Frame Drop problem when taking video is still not fixed. Xiaomi is still analyzing the bug, exclusive to the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G / POCO X6 sold in Indonesia. The affected build is OS1.0.8.0.UNRIDXM.

Another issue reported is Animation problems when back to the home screen. HyperOS improved animation on Xiaomi phones, but Xiaomi 14 users are reporting an issue with it when they are back on the home screen. It’s a problem the company has acknowledged but is still analyzing. They will release a fix soon, but you can check the updater app.

If you encounter any issues after an OTA update, you can always try a factory reset. Most times, that’s all you need instead of waiting for another update. However, ensure you have all your data backed up somewhere before performing a hard reset, otherwise, you will lose everything.
