The “Coolwalk” dashboard update for Android Auto has been available for a few months now, but Google’s navigation software, Waze, has lacked support for the platform upgrade, however, this appears to be changing. Coolwalk support on Waze has been reintroduced with a new beta update.
Coolwalk support on Waze via a new beta update
When “Coolwalk” originally appeared in beta, it was noted that Waze lacked compatibility with Android Auto’s new dashboard interface. This disappointed early users, but there was still optimism that the upgrade will be released in the not-too-distant future.
Waze originally supported the dashboard in testing in late January, but it wasn’t available to all users. And, almost as fast as it emerged, it vanished for some people without explanation. Waze’s latest beta release restores compatibility for Android Auto “Coolwalk.” People on Reddit noticed the change after installing software version 4.93.5.X from the Google Play Store.
Sadly, the beta program is presently oversubscribed. An individual (at 9to5google) was able to confirm that sideloading the update works, since dashboard functionality appeared right away on Waze v4.93.5.5. It’s unclear why the feature was deleted in the first place, but it’s wonderful the Coolwalk support on Waze is back.
Meanwhile, Waze officially stated days ago that EV charging station locations would be available during and before routing. Users may search for and travel to stations, or they can create a stop by pressing the new EV symbol in the app.
While using Waze to find an EV charging station, each site will display information about eligible vehicles and plug types. Waze will also allow drivers to choose their car and plug type in the app so that only appropriate stations are displayed during or before a journey.
