Xiaomi remains the company to beat when it comes to device support. The company support its devices for three years. That is gradually moving to four years, starting with the recently released Xiaomi 11T series. They’re also up there when it comes to releasing new Android OS updates. The company is currently pushing Android 12 to its flagship phones with the hope to expand the rollout in the coming days. However, they haven’t been releasing MIUI updates lately.
The reason why Xiaomi hasn’t been releasing MIUI updates recently is because of National day in China. Going by the Note released for the closed beta MIUI 12.5 V21.9.28, the development version of the public beta will be suspended from September 30 – October 10. They’ll resume both development versions of internal beta and public beta from Monday, October 11.
Perhaps, Xiaomi has given its developers ten days’ break to mark the National day in China. They’ll start releasing updates from Monday. Of course, we’re talking about the development version of MIUI. The development version is the testing stage for testing new features and reporting and addressing bugs. Updates are released on a daily and weekly basis, unlike a stable channel that gets updated quarterly.
Meanwhile, it seems the suspension has affected stable release as MIUI updates haven’t been coming lately. The Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5 that’s seeding in China has been suspended as well. Hopefully, they will start releasing MIUI updates starting from Monday as supposed.
That said, we expect the global version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro to finally receive the much-anticipated MIUI 12.5 update. It’s been weeks since the update arrived in Europe but has yet to make its way to global models. Maybe this time around, the update will be made available for eligible units.
