Xiaomi had to wait till the last day of December, which is also the last day of the year, to push the December security patch for Mi A2 Lite. The Mi A2 already received the update a couple of days ago, and with the current development, only the Mi A3 is still on the November security patch. However, we expect the update to roll out for the device in the coming hours.
For the Mi A2 Lite, the new update is hitting the global users, and it has a version number, V11.0.16.0 QDLMIXM. It’s a security patch update, and as per the changelog, “optimized system performance and improved system security and stability.” Of course, it’s based on Android 10 and won’t get past that as the OS support ended when the second OS update arrived a couple of months ago. The only way to run Android 11 is by flashing custom ROMs, and luckily, there are many of them out there.
The December security patch for Mi A2 Lite is a public release and will soon arrive on all eligible users. At the time of this writing, we couldn’t confirm if the update has fixed any of the previously reported bugs. However, we can confirm the update is safe, and you should install it when prompted. But then, it’s important to backup your data to a safe location before installing any update. That’ll help in a situation that you need to perform a factory reset.
