With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus pulling off a lot of interesting features, we can’t but expect more quality from Qualcomm. We’ve got another chipset from one of the leading chipset makers, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. Will it be a cutting-edge chipset? Let’s take a look at what we’ve got
Details of Snapdragon 7 Gen 2
The new chipset in the works has model number SM7475, although we’re unsure whether it’s going to end up being Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Plus. Well, as regards the CPU, we’re expecting a prime core, three gold cores and four silver cores. The chipset is in the works currently and might take up the new core designs – possibly the Cortex – A715 for the gold and prime cores while the silver cores will be the enhanced A510.
Furthermore, our famous tipster, Roland Quandt, shared what we’re to expect in the frequency section. According to Roland, the prime core should be clocked at 2.4GHz with the gold core getting close to the same frequency as the prime and then 1.8GHz for the silver cores. For reference, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has 2.4GHz for the prime, 2.36GHz for the Gold and then 1.8GHz for the Silver.
The similarity of this new chipset – either Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Plus – with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 might just put the chipset a little above the 7 Gen 1 which boils down to what percentage increase in enhancements we are getting.
According to sources, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 might be getting little improvement, thanks to the new A715 which is said to be 5 percent faster and 20 percent more efficient compared to the A710(although a 5 percent decrease in efficiency from the A510). We’re still left in the grey area as to what GPU will be integrated into this chipset. Oh well, most details and answers to all our questions on Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Plus will be unveiled alongside the amazing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at the Snapdragon’s summit later this year.
