Discord, a popular messaging app among gamers, is getting revamped. Via this new tweak, Discord for Android will be getting new features at almost the same pace as other platforms like iOS and PC.
The New Discord for Android: what do we know?
Quoting a blog post from Discord, “Discord for Android is getting a major overhaul”. There seems to be no tweak in terms of design, however, it’s getting what is called a “React Native” framework enabling the fast pace availability of updates on Discord for Android.
Precisely, this means that at the same time when iOS and PC get updates, the Android counterpart will be receiving the update as well. This is quite interesting given the fact that when updates are rolled out, Discord for Android gets it days to weeks after it has been rolled out to other platforms. The changes accompanied in the update include font changes alongside enhanced server roles.
Discord mentioned that “users who install the app for the first time will be greeted with a larger font within the app that is more consistent with iOS,”. Furthermore, “Android users will also enjoy the benefits of faster app update release cycles.”
“React Native allows us to streamline and consolidate our processes, which helps our engineers work more efficiently and push out updates more frequently, especially now that the team won’t be spending as much time maintaining different codebases for different devices.”
With the dawn of the new tweak, more updates together with bug fixes should be flowing in soon. That said, the new version of Discord can be gotten on Play Store, however, it will take a few weeks before everyone gets their hands on it
