Google is now rolling out Android Auto 14 beta update via the Play Store

Google has started rolling out a new Android Auto update. It is a beta release aimed at beta testers, but you can side-load the APK file instead of waiting for a stable release.

Google is rolling out a new Android Auto 14 beta update. It is a major release, given the version number, but it does not seem to bring any new features. Worse, Google did not include any changelog, making it hard to say what is new or has been fixed in the new build. Nonetheless, there have not been any new additions, as they are still in development, but bug fixes and optimizations.

Android Auto 14 beta update

Most Android Auto updates focus on bug fixes and system optimization. That is the case with the latest Android Auto 14 beta release. Though still in beta, we know new features are not making their way to the navigation app. Google plans to bring some later in the future, as we already know with the line of codes in previous Android Auto releases.

New features coming to Android Auto

  • Google is working on new app categories. These apps will only be used while the car is in Park, meaning they are apps that could distract the driver. Unfortunately, Google has yet to start pushing it as it does not make it with the latest build to Android Auto users.
  • New games were added recently, and we expect streaming apps and browsers next. We understand the new apps and app categories will arrive simultaneously.
  • Google plans to expand Android Auto availability. Some Motorcycle now supports the navigation app, but the company is not done yet. The move to start referencing ‘car’ as ‘vehicles’ on the app means the company is planning for a bigger expansion.
  • Another notable feature is the introduction of Gemini. Google recently announced it will replace the default Google Assistant with Gemini on smartphones. Since they are shutting down the former, we expect the same changes on Android Auto.
  • New temperature controls were spotted in Android Auto 13.9 beta, and we believe it will start rolling out soon. Also, Google might be working on new features targeted for the Maps. We do not have the full details, but we hope to get more information soon.

How to download Android Auto 14 beta build

Google is rolling out the new update via the Play Store. If you are part of the beta program, the update should be available for download on the Play Store. Otherwise, you should wait for the stable release, which is likely to start rolling out in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, you can side-load the Android Auto 14 APK. The file is available via this link and only weighs 56.48MB. Locate the file on your device download folder and tap on it to start the installation. Once completed, you can start using the app, but remember it is a beta build. It is likely to contain bugs. Uninstall the app if you experience any issues and wait for a stable release.
