Google released a new camera app with the unveiling of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. It recently updated it to V8.4.500 to improve the performance and stability while introducing some features. Of course, the Google camera app is exclusive to Pixel phones, but you can install the mod version on your non-Pixel phones. Luckily, we have the GCam 8.4 mod that has been ported to work on most Android phones, and with the latest release by Shamim, you can now install Gcam 8.4 on Samsung Galaxy Smartphones.
Unlike other OEMs, Samsung custom Exynos chips most times lack support for Gcam. However, with the recent Gcam 8.4 release, you can successfully install it on your Galaxy phones – both Exynos and Snapdragon processors. Interestingly, the app is compatible with the latest OneUI 4.1 update, which has already arrived for a handful of Samsung phones. If you’re running the latest firmware, you can download and install Gcam 8.4 on your galaxy device without getting a parsing error.
Aside from adding support for Samsung Galaxy smartphones, the latest version by Shamim brought new features. It added time-lapse, slow motion, normal video resolution selection, and customization settings for front and back cameras separately. If you install it on your Galaxy S22 Ultra, you’ll get extra features like noise modeler, models AWB, new addresses, and value to the patcher. On OnePlus devices, the issue with slow-motion has been addressed, while support for Vivo, Realme, and Oppo phones was added.
Of course, the GCam 8.4 supports Xiaomi phones. According to the developer, after installation, on video mode, navigate to Settings, and restart the camera app. It’s understood the app works best after that.
