It’s only a few weeks away before Xiaomi starts rolling out the stable MIUI 12.5 update. Luckily, the Redmi 9, alongside premium Xiaomi phones, will get the update from April. While the update is yet to start seeding, the company keeps rolling out the security patch build. The latest device to receive the February security update is the Redmi 9. However, as usual, only a few selected users are currently receiving the update, but we anticipate a wider rollout in the coming days.
The February security patch update for the Redmi 9 is live in Indonesia. It’s arriving with a version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 QJCIDXM – and weighs in at 185MB. As per the changelog, the update, of course, bumped the security patch level to February 2021 to improve system security and stability. It also fixed some bugs and improved system performance ahead of the MIUI 12.5 upgrade. Hence, you should download and install the update when prompted.
Meanwhile, we have a link below this post, and you can access the ROM by clicking on it if you opt for a manual flash. However, you might get an error message, and that’s because the ROM is only for selected users. When that does happen, you should give it some time or wait for the OTA to arrive. If everything goes smoothly, you should get the update in the coming days. As for when the Redmi 9 MIUI 12.5 update will start seeding, we don’t have a particular ETA. But according to the MIUI 12.5 global rollout plan, the device will get the update towards the end of Q2. That’s probably June.
