With each update for the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, users hope for some fingerprint scanner improvement. The device users have complained of a slow and inconsistent scanner in the past months, and it doesn’t seem to go away after a new update. However, it seems Android 13 beta 2 has improved the scanner.
Reports on Reddit suggest there has been a fingerprint scanner improvement for the Pixel 6 series with the latest Android 13 beta 2. The current beta preview brought changes and bug fixes, and it seems part of it targets the buggy Pixel 6 series fingerprint scanner.
According to a Redditor, “there’s a night and day difference with the speed and reliability.” Stressing that he was never someone checking for improvements on the scanner. Perhaps, there’s a notable improvement for the Pixel 6 series with the update.
And while the latest preview release has supposedly improved the scanner, it’s still not recommended to port to the Android 13 beta. There are reports of bugs, which include but are not limited to laggy animation and stuttering while scrolling.
We recommend waiting for the Android 13 stable, which is expected to arrive in August or September. Unless you don’t mind running a buggy build on your device, you can download the Android 13 beta 2 build here.
