Samsung remains committed to supporting its devices with the latest version of Android OS. Google recently released stable Android 16 to Pixel users, and we expect eligible Galaxy phones to get the upgrade in the coming weeks. While it will take time before the Galaxy A55 Android 16-based One UI 8 update starts rolling out, Samsung is already working on it.

There are loads of phones that will eventually receive the stable Android 16-based One UI 8 update. The Galaxy A55 is among these, and early signs suggest Samsung might have started working on the next upgrade for the phone. A recent report shows the device on Geekbench benchmark running the latest Android OS based on One UI 8.
Details of the Galaxy A55 Android 16-based One UI 8 build
Samsung is officially organizing a beta program for the Galaxy S25 series. Only the device has a beta build available, but it doesn’t mean the company is not working on other units. With the appearance of the Galaxy A55 on the benchmark listing running the latest OS, it means work is underway.
There is probably a developer build being tested by Samsung developers, or someone managed to install One UI 8 on the device. Unfortunately, it does not mean a stable build is around the corner. We are still months away from the stable release.
But when is the Galaxy A55 Android 15 update rolling out?
We do not have a timeframe, but we understand the beta program has been successful so far. We expect an early rollout considering what happened with One UI 7. That said, Galaxy A55 will likely get stable Android 16 with One UI 8 in Q4.
We Hope for a smooth preview as beta tests are never straightforward. A minor issue can delay the release, but since One UI 8 is tipped to introduce a few features, we are anticipating a swift and smooth beta and stable release.
