Astrophotography mode? Of course, an impressive camera feature. As usual, you would expect this from the Korean tech giant, Samsung, who has been known for its camera prowess since the beginning of time. Astrophotography mode will be rolling out the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Should you have a vague understanding of the Astrophotography mode, let’s walk you through it.
If you’re a total stargazer, the feature will show you the position of constellations and put you (and the camera) in the appropriate direction. The Astrophotography feature was developed for last year’s top Galaxy S22 series, and Samsung has stated that it will ultimately make this capability available for other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy 20 series and other Galaxy Z Fold models.
The quality of photographs captured in Astrophotography mode will vary based on the exposure time. The user can specify a time between four and ten minutes. Clear sky (ideally free of pollution) and a steady hand or a tripod are also required for high-quality photographs.
It gets even better with the Expert RAW camera app. You may use the multi-frame capturing capability to edit your photos like an expert by customizing the shutter speed and ISO settings.

An update arrives for the Expert RAW camera app and this brought the Astrophotography feature to the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. For reference, the feature debuted on the Galaxy S22(the previous flagship before the Galaxy S23 currently). The feature is available for the S21 and Fold 4 in Expert RAW software version 2.0.09.1, which can be downloaded from Samsung’s Galaxy Store.
The aforementioned models must first have the April security update installed to use the Astrophotography option on the Expert RAW app. If you haven’t gotten the update for whatever reason, you could check your phone by navigating to Settings > Software update.
