Ahead of the official announcement of the stable One UI 7, Samsung has started rolling out the Galaxy S22 January 2025 security patch update. It’s a staged rollout as usual but it should be available for all eligible units in the coming days.

While the Galaxy S22 series is eligible for the Android 15-based One UI 7 upgrade, there’s little or no news about the release time. However, that will probably change after tomorrow’s unveiling of the next iteration of One UI. Hence, it is necessary to install the latest release as it fortifies the units ahead of the seamless upgrade to Android 15
The update is the January 2025 security patch, which includes many fixes and improvements. It has now arrived for the carrier-unlocked versions of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. We understand the OTA has a build number of S90xU1UES7EXL8.
How to download the Galaxy S22 January 2025 security patch
It’s unlikely that you will get a prompt notification for the new update. Instead of waiting for one, which might never come, you should head to Settings>>Software update>>Download & install. You will probably see the update, then follow the screen prompts to download it and reboot your device to complete the installation.
