Samsung started rolling out the One UI 6.1.1 update yesterday, but it has remained exclusive to those in South Korea. The update will expand to more regions in the coming days/weeks, with those in Europe due to receive the upgrade next week. While the rollout started with the Galaxy S24, Samsung confirmed pushing it to the Galaxy S23, but there’s doubt about the Galaxy S22 getting the upgrade.
Ahead of the One UI 6.1.1 rollout expansion to other devices and regions, Samsung released a press release detailing its plans for the rollout. They listed the devices that will supposedly get the latest release, but it doesn’t have the Galaxy S22. That has raised some questions about the eligibility of the device for the One UI 6.1.1 update, but reports suggest the Korean company will roll out the update to its 2022 flagship phones.
Perhaps the press release is only about the first wave of the One UI 6.1.1 rollout. If that’s the case, we expect an updated list in the coming weeks to include the Galaxy S22 series. Unfortunately, owners of these phones will have to wait for weeks before the upgrade starts to roll out to them if at all Samsung plans for it.
And if that happens, we don’t expect all the One UI 6.1.1 features to be available for the Galaxy S22 series. We witnessed that with the One UI 6.1 release when some AI features were restricted to newer models. The same will likely happen with the current release, but we have to wait and see.
