Well, it seems there is no perfect technology, still doesn’t mean any glitch or issue cannot be fixed. Sadly, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra users are complaining about WiFi problems. This is in addition to some bugs and screen issues that have been earlier reported.
Complaints from Galaxy S23 Ultra users WiFi problems
The Galaxy S23 Ultra suffers WiFi connectivity troubles, according to various postings(by Galaxy S23 Ultra users)on Reddit and the Samsung Community forums. It appears that the phone connects to WiFi but does not have internet access. If it does connect, the connection does not persist long. Most people indicate that the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the only smartphone that has this issue, and other gadgets in their homes are operating perfectly.
“So my wife and I both purchased S23 Ultras. I have Black, she has Purple, both unlocked. IT guy here, gigabit internet with wifi 6 router (TP-Link AX11000) I have had the infamous wifi – “Connected but No Internet. every day since we got them on Feb 17th. My wife’s phone has never had it. I tried all the fixes/workarounds and mirrored them on my wife’s S23U to see if I can get her to have the issue. Nothing has worked for my phone, yet my wife still had not had the issue. We both took the Feb Update yesterday and I still have the issue, she does not. If this was a Firmware or Drive issue, it should affect us both, but being her phone has not had the issue, and many people in threads regarding this issue have stated they have not had it, I am leaning towards this being a hardware issue with the wifi radio/receiver in our phone.” -Reddit user jericko
According to popular belief, this issue only occurs if you have a WiFi 6 router. WiFi 6 or 802. 11ax is a new wireless technology generation, and not everyone has a WiFi 6 router. Many customers still use older standard routers, while others use routers that employ the newer WiFi 6E technology.
Disabling WiFI 6 and the encryption technique WPA3 has addressed the issue for certain users. A factory reset also cured the problem for several Galaxy S23 Ultra users. One user advised turning off the random MAC address and using the phone’s MAC address instead.
Samsung appears to be aware of the issue and working on a solution. A Samsung representative allegedly promised a Reddit member that the issue will be fixed in the upcoming update. By the time the upgrade is released, Galaxy S23 Ultra early adopters will have passed the return period. Thus, if the patch doesn’t work and this turns out to be a recurring issue, which is improbable, filing a warranty claim is your best choice. For the time being, impacted customers would have to rely on mobile data.
