The next generation of Samsung Fold, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, is almost here and(of course) we’ve got leaks surfacing online from time to time thus building up the anticipation further. This time, it’s the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders that are telling us more details.
Details of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders
This set of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders is coming from our regular tipsters, OnLeaks, and smartprix. According to the CAD Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders, the rear of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 features the same raised camera bump for the three camera sensors (but with the flash on the side rather than the bottom) with an otherwise blank design and a slightly curved frame on the sides.
The entire phone has the same aspect ratio, with a tall and narrow outside display leading to an essentially square inside display that’s slightly higher than it is broad. On the plus side, these renderings show that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be far slimmer than its predecessors when closed. When closed, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will reportedly measure 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm, down from a maximum of 15.8mm on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. This is due to the redesigned hinge, which employs a “droplet” design for the display, resulting in no gap when the device is closed.
When open, Fold 5 measures 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.3mm, a hair smaller in all dimensions except thickness, which remains constant from Fold 4. Based on these images, it appears that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be less spectacular than originally imagined, but that may be okay. The most notable modification is the insertion of a “droplet hinge,” which enables this slimmer form factor and, hopefully, will finally do something visible about the famed crease. According to sources, The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are scheduled to be unveiled in July or August by Samsung.
