There’s a report on the internet claiming the global variant of the Redmi Note 8 will start receiving stable MIUI 12 today. The news broke after the Chinese version started receiving the much anticipated MIUI 12 update a couple of days ago, which came along with the Android 10.
Normally, it takes more or less two weeks after the Chinese rollout for the same update to start appearing on the global models. However, things have turned out different since the company started rolling out the stable MIUI 12 update. Take for instance, the Redmi Note 7, which received MIUI 12 months ago in China, but the global users are yet to start getting the same update.
Also, the Redmi 9 came pre-installed with MIUI 11 on the global market, but run MIUI 12 in China. And almost four months after, the device is yet to upgrade to MIUI 12, and according to Xiaomi executive in Indonesia, Alvin Tse, the update might arrive this month or next.
Meanwhile, it’s now obvious that the global MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 isn’t arriving today. Besides, no one knows the correct ETA. Xiaomi is yet to update their tracker in regards to the global MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8, and until they do, that will mean the update is up. Hence, believe any ETA you see on the internet at your own risk, because even the moderators in the Mi community forum don’t know the ETA.
Nevertheless, we expect the update to start arriving in some regions this month, especially India. The reason being that not long ago, the global variant received a stable update based on MIUI 11, and it’s almost impossible for Xiaomi to roll out another update in such a short time frame.
We advise you to patiently wait for the update, which by the look of things, isn’t far away. And once the global MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 is released, we will notify you instantly.
