It’s been months since Xiaomi released the Android 11 based MIUI 12 update to the global Redmi Note 8 users. As always, the update arrived for the Chinese users first, which took weeks before making its way to international models. The company has also released a stable MIUI 12.5 update in that region, but for some reason, the global Redmi Note 8 is yet to receive the update. However, that could change soon as the global Redmi Note 9 Pro that has been waiting for the update started receiving it a couple of days ago.
The global Redmi Note 9 Pro recently received the MIUI 12.5 update months after the update was released for international models. However, it’s a different situation for that Redmi Note 8 as the update is yet to arrive in any region internationally. Interestingly, the device is eligible for the enhanced edition of MIUI 12.5. The current MIUI build has already arrived for the Chinese models, and hence, the global Redmi Note 8 might be upgraded to Enhance Edition of MIUI 12.5.
Xiaomi, for the past couple of days, has been upgrading its device with the latest security patch build. Most of these devices are running MIUI 12.5 already. Therefore, we expect the global Redmi Note 8 to get either Enhanced Edition or MIUI 12.5 in the coming weeks. Hopefully, the update will arrive this month as the company prepares to release MIUI 13.
According to Lei Jun, the company will present MIUI 13 before this year ends. We believe they’ll repeat the event of last year, and if that’s the case, we will see MIUI 13 arrive at the launch event of the Xiaomi 12 series.
Meanwhile, the Indian models are yet to receive both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 update, but those in that region may receive both upgrades simultaneously. That said, you should keep an eye on our page to know when the update becomes available in your region.
