The Xiaomi Mi 8 is the company’s flagship phone of 2018. It debuted running MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and as promised, has received two Android upgrades; Android 9 and 10. According to an unofficial Xiaomi update policy, the device is eligible for four MIUI upgrades and has since received the MIUI 10 and 11 only, and that makes it eligible for MIUI 12 and 13.
Meanwhile, the Chinese users have since picked the update, and now, the global stable MIUI 12 update for Mi 8 is released. The update started arriving a couple of hours ago, and as such, it will only arrive on selected units for preview. After the preview stage, the public will then start receiving the update.
It’s an 840MB package with a build number, MIUI 12.0.1.0 QEAMIXM. Arriving alongside the much-anticipated MIUI 12 update is a fix for super wallpaper color not displayed correctly in the Dark Mode. The control center gets a new gesture control, and you can check all that out below.
