Xiaomi has been working on the HyperOS 2.2 update for some time now. The build arrived for beta testers in China a couple of months ago, and it’s available for global users. We understand the new Status Bar is now available for Global models. Unfortunately, only a handful of phones will receive the update, which is already rolling out.
Since the release of HyperOS 2, Xiaomi has released two point upgrades, including the HyperOS 2.2 currently rolling out. These builds are based on Android 15, meaning they do not bring a new Android OS. Although the Chinese company is testing the latest OS with the current HyperOS build, we expect Android 16 to arrive with HyperOS 3. And considering all the features of HyperOS 2.2, we might be looking at a few additions when the iteration arrives in October. A few additions when the iteration arrives in October.
Details of Global Xiaomi HyperOS 2.2 update
We understand Xiaomi has released the latest build to about eight phones in Europe. These devices include the Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 14T Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. You can check the full list below.
While the update is rolling out for these devices, it might take a few days for it to become available for all eligible users. Meanwhile, you can join early adopters when you sign up for the beta testers program on the Mi Community app. If your application is successful, you will receive the update, but ensure you can live with a few glitches and bugs.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2.2 features
One of the most anticipated features of HyperOS 2.2 is the new Status Bar. With that update, it becomes possible to show a particular number of icons on the status bar. Additionally, users can decide how many icons to show.
Interestingly, Xiaomi has added a blur effect to the status bar. Depending on the content on the screen, a blur effect is activated to ensure it doesn’t affect the readability of the content on the screen.
The Leica-style watermark has been added to the photo gallery. If you do not have it already, you probably need to update your Gallery app to the latest version. There are different typography styles, positioning, and transparency settings.
If you are a photographer who wants to preserve your work, you probably need to add a watermark to it. We recommend updating your Gallery app to start adding watermarks to your photos.

A new lock screen Clock and depth field have been introduced with the HyperOS 2.2 update. You can design the clock on your lock screen to span the length of your display. Also, the depth effect creates a layered composition where elements behind the clock appear natural.
