Google has been teasing the upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro after confirming the October 4 launch date, which might also see the release of stable Android 14. Ahead of the release, the Google Camera 9.0 has been released. The Pixel 8 series will run the latest camera app out-of-box, but you can download it on your Google Pixel phone.
With every Pixel flagship release, Google releases a major Camera app update. This time, the tech giant is rolling out the V9.0 of its camera app, which seems to bring a new User interface while making some other improvements.
Google Camera 9.0 changes
Our first look at the new Google Camera 9.0, it feels there are no changes. However, looking at it closely, Google has tweaked some things. They change the camera and video switch to make the UI cleaner by eliminating most tabs.
Also, you will notice the button to switch to the front camera or access the camera has been swapped. The former, which was on the left, has been moved to the right while the latter has gone the other way.
In Google Camera 8, you access Quick Settings by clicking a button on the top left corner. To access it now, you have to swipe up, while the shortcut buttons have been moved to the bottom left corner.
Finally, Pixel 6 users can now enjoy the zoom slider when shooting. It was exclusive to the Pixel 7 series, but with Google Camera 9.0, other users can use the feature.
There are some reorganization of the photo and video tabs, making it easy to access a tab under each one. Interestingly, there is a new Google Camera app icon. For more on the new camera app, check the source link.
Google Camera 9.0 support
Unfortunately, only Pixel phones running Android 14 can install the new update. We expect developers to release Gcam 9.0, which will work on third-party phones and those running Android 13 and lower. You can download from here.
