Google is poised to bring an innovative addition to Google Discover on both Android and iOS platforms—a feature that displays the Air Quality Index (AQI) alongside other curated content. Let’s dive into the specifics of this development.

Google Discover’s AQI: further details

Google Discover is renowned for its ability to showcase a carousel of concise, informative cards that cover a diverse range of topics, providing users with a well-rounded glimpse into various domains. These cards include insights on Finance, Sports, and Weather. However, a new contender is set to join this lineup—”Air quality from your current location.”

This feature aims to provide users with real-time information about the air quality at their present location. By tapping on an initially blank card in the Google app beta on both Android (version 14.32) and iOS, a search for “air quality” is triggered. While the finer details are yet to be fully unveiled, a peek into the App Store listing provides an overview of what to expect.

The AQI will be showcased numerically, accompanied by a color-matching dot, offering a visual indicator of air quality levels. Additionally, users will receive information about where and when the AQI reading was taken, providing context to the data.

In tandem with the introduction of air quality information, Google Discover is undergoing a design transformation. The weather card is evolving into a full-width presentation, providing more room for both weather details and the probability of precipitation. While this alteration aligns with the established tiny version, it brings a sense of freshness to the user interface.

The prospect of this integration into Google Discover is especially exciting for users who value staying informed about air quality in their surroundings. As people increasingly prioritize health and well-being, this feature adds a layer of awareness and empowers users to make informed decisions based on real-time air quality data.

As the groundwork for this development is being laid, the automatic selection of a setting switch in the Customize menu suggests that this functionality is nearing completion. Users can anticipate that this blank card will soon evolve into a valuable resource, enriching the Google Discover experience and offering insights that resonate with their daily lives.
