The Air Quality feature is seen in Nest Hub and will also be coming to Google Pixel’s At a Glance, but we have it on Google Maps now. Many tweaks have made their way to Maps recently. The immersive view gives users the ability to take a peek at a particular location and also the Google Street view can reveal pictures of certain territories from 2007. Somewhat like a time machine, how impressive from the Big G. Well, adding to the recent rollout, we get integration of AQI in Google Maps.
The feature was previewed last year and a new map layer was added which can be accessed by tapping a circular button found underneath the suggestions section and the search bar. The Air Quality button is seen together with Wildfire, Public Transit, and Covid 19 info at the bottom-right corner.
Description of the Air Quality function on Google maps
When you access the new map layer added, courtesy of the new feature, you will be presented with pins marked all over the largest locations on your Maps view. On the account of clicking on any dot, better details of the specific site are seen on the bottom sheet.
A full US Air Quality index from 0 to 400+ also appears after clicking on a dot alongside a link to where the data was gotten from. The feature is available in the US from now on and users can get it by simply updating the Maps if not updated. The feature has also been linked with the Wildfire section to provide useful information about the fire. As the name goes, you’ll get access to the quality of air in the area, whether it’s healthy or unhealthy plus guidance for outdoor activities.
