Google has constantly improved the functionality of Android Auto. The tech giant is currently rolling out a redesign to Google Maps on Android Auto. Interestingly, the new tweak is not attached to a new Android Auto update but to Google Maps.
The latest Google Maps update has added a sticky sidebar to the Maps. Initially, some quick settings are displayed on the far right when interacting with the Map, but with the latest update, it constantly remains on the screen. Now on the left side of the screen, you will see zoom controls, settings and map orientation shortcuts. You can also adjust directions that are said aloud.
However, the new redesign won’t work on a split screen. You can only access the sticky sidebar on Google Maps when it’s displayed on the entire screen.
According to reports, the new redesign is even appearing for people on Android Auto 9.9, and it seems the latest Google Maps update enabled the new tweak. To enable it on your device, you should update the Map app to at least V11.90.
