The Google One VPN was one of those features the Big G tagged as “coming soon” however, the feature has been noticed to be live on the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Alongside the Google One VPN, you get a new 2TB tier on the Google One cloud storage plan.

According to sources, the Google One VPN was expected to arrive in December, precisely via the December feature drop but folks at 9to5google mentioned that a couple of their devices have started seeing the feature. And what’s the Google One VPN? “Google One VPN is focused on masking your traffic and IP address, reducing online tracking, and providing protection on public Wi-Fi and other unsecured networks.”

The feature is available for very select Google accounts and the brand mentions that they “will never use your VPN connection to track, collect, or sell your online activity.”

Using the Google One VPN

Opening the Google One reveals an onscreen prompt that says “Pixel comes with VPN by Google One”. Furthermore, there’s the “Benefits” Tab that gives information about the functionality better. When you tap on “View details”, you’ll notice the “Use VPN” button there and this is for both new and existing Google One subscribers.

On your Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, you can enable the Google One VPN by navigating to Settings>Network and Internet> VPN. Or, you can choose to enable it by heading to the app, tapping on the Benefits Tab, VPN, View details, and then enabling VPN. Note that you have to have your Google account logged in on your smartphone. Lastly, on availability, the software is available in just 17 countries of which(sadly) India and Singapore aren’t part of lucky 17.
