Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro owners report Wi-Fi issues after the February security patch

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been in the news since their official unveiling for the wrong reasons. The duo has battled with some bugs, and it doesn’t seem Google has done enough to address these issues. Previous updates before the February security patch have been hit and miss, and when it looks like the company is finally on the right track, users start facing Wi-Fi issues.

This update is terrible!! I had no issues with my phone, now I cannot connect to the WiFi, the Bluetooth disconnects automatically and my screen goes off randomly. Who know what other issues I am yet to uncover!! Phone in good working condition is now a mess!! Can I roll back?

Compared to previous updates, especially the December patch that introduced multiple bugs, the February security patch seems the best with few bug fixes. For once, it looks like Google is about to give its Pixel 6 phone users a bug-free security patch, but that’s not entirely the case. According to reports from Reddit and Twitter, the latest update has broken some of the device users’ Wi-Fi radio.

The latest Wi-Fi connectivity issues supposedly started after the latest update, and from the reports, it’s frustrating. The Wi-Fi connection keeps turning off automatically after some minutes or when the device goes into sleep mode. It seems the issue has a glitch with Bluetooth as turning it on disables Wi-Fi and vice versa. Also, it’s impossible to connect saved Wi-Fi networks automatically.

Google is yet to acknowledge the issue nor provide any solution. Few people that reached out to support were asked to perform a factory reset, but that didn’t work. Also, resetting network settings didn’t do a thing while rebooting let the Wi-Fi work for some minutes.

It’s unclear what might have caused the Wi-Fi issues. The recent update addressed issues with Bluetooth, perhaps that might have caused the current problems. But whatever might have triggered the current issue is what Google needs to look into and provide a solution. Unfortunately, if you have installed the update already and facing Wi-Fi issues, you would have to wait for the next OTA. Of course, you should ignore the current release if you haven’t got on it yet.
