Google has officially announced Pixel 8A, their latest budget offering. The device has the Pixel look with the camera visor at the back, but the edges are now rounded. There are other improvements over the predecessor, and even at that, Google has managed to keep the price at $499.
Google Pixel 7a is one of the best mid-range phones released last year, and with the Pixel 8a, Google has made more improvements. The latter has an improved display with a more powerful chipset and bigger memory capacity. In addition, it will receive seven years of OS, security patches, and Feature Drop updates.
Meanwhile, under the hood is the Google Tensor G3 processor flagged with 8 GB LPDDR5x RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage. It supports Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3 USB-C 3.2.
The Google Pixel 8a has a 6.1-inch 1080 x 2500 Actua Display. It supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 HZ and a max brightness of 2000 nits. Google uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, which helps to achieve a 1P67 rating. There is an optical fingerprint scanner under the display with class 3 security.
For optics, the Google Pixel 8a has a primary 64 MP Quad PD f/1.89, 13 MP Ultra-wide lens, while the front camera is a single 13 MP shooter. The device supports all the camera and galley features of the vanilla Pixel 8 but lacks macro focus.
Power is drawn from a 4492 mAh battery with 18 W fast charging. The device supports Qi wireless charging but lacks reverse charging. Outside-of-the box, you get Android 14, while the device will receive seven OS updates in the future.

Google Pixel 8a is available in Mint, Blue, Black, and Beige colors. Meanwhile, the 256 GB version is only available in Obsidian color and is available for $559. You can grab the 128 GB model for $449.
