As always with a new flagship Pixel phone release, a new camera app is released. It’s no different with the Pixel 9 series, as they run the Pixel Camera 9.5 outside the box. We understand older Pixel phones can now install the latest version but might miss out on some features.
Google is yet to start rolling out the Pixel camera 9.5 via Play Store, but you can side-load the app when you download the ApK from the APKmirror. As expected, only a few features are available for older Pixel phones, though this might change later. Perhaps we might see it arrive with Gcam 9.5 mods.
Meanwhile, the update has added a 5-second timer option to the available 3 and 10 seconds on the Pixel 8 Pro. In addition, you can access the Guided Frame directly from the camera app Settings. You need to enable the TalkBack screen reader from system preference in the previous versions.
Unfortunately, the redesigned Panorama mode is missing on the Pixel camera 9.5 or Add Me. Switching to video does not pop up the dedicated Night Sight mode and the 8K Video Boost is missing. We will probably see more of these new features on older Pixel phones with future Quarterly platform releases.
