It’s quite unfortunate that the Google Pixel phones’ owners are experiencing another inconvenience after a few they went past. It has been reported by sources that some Google Pixel phones can’t call emergency numbers and complaints are seen across major platforms.
As spotted by Androidpolice via Reddit, some users can’t call emergency numbers like 911 in the US likewise 000 in Australia. It’s one thing to await a fix while accommodating a problem like a failing battery life but it’s another thing for your phone to be unable to reach emergency numbers, that’s just one hell of a frustrating circumstance.
According to a user on Reddit, seykrits, “Just found out an unresponsive man passed out next to his vehicle. When I tried to dial 000, the phone displayed my location and did nothing else, there was no ringtone and it never connected to emergency services. I had to run 2 minutes down the road to find help from someone with a functioning phone. The time I spent looking for someone instead of performing CPR may have contributed to this man’s passing”.
A user from the US, KitchenPicture5849, also laid her complaints about being unable to call emergency numbers. She narrated how her grandmother fell under a stroke and she tried reaching out via 911 on her Pixel but all to no avail. She was lucky to get help with the landline and she further mentioned that the circumstance she was in is not something to be experienced. These complaints go on and on and it seems the problem is mostly for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a.
Google Pixel phones can’t call emergency numbers: a fix in the works?
Google rolled out the October Security Patch days ago and one will expect the fix for this issue to be within this firmware, sadly, that isn’t the case. At least, the changelog doesn’t mention fixing issues of this sort. It’s quite sad that Google – one of the leading phone makers – isn’t offering Google Pixel phones’ users a very fluid experience. We hope they roll out a fix very soon and possibly check out the Pixel 7 to get rid of any possible bugs.
