We will likely not see the stable Android 15 until October, but Google is already planning on the Android 15 QPR1 update. The first Quarterly platform release of the upcoming Android OS will arrive in December, and it makes sense to start the testing now, though a stable build is yet to roll out.
As usual, the Android 15 QPR1 will include new features and improvements. In addition, Google says the update will bring “the latest bug fixes and improvements to stability and performance.”
Those participating in the beta program now have the chance to leave before QPR1 starts rolling out or risk losing their data. If you want to experience the “final stable public Android 15 release,” are advised to opt out of the program.
Opt out of the program
Ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the final public stable release of Android 15 (AP3A) coming soon. The OTA message will have ‘Downgrade’ in the description. Opting out will not cause a data wipe as long as you don’t apply the downgrade OTA update.
Once Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1 is installed on your device, opting out will result in a data wipe.
If you are part of the beta program and fail to opt out before the Android 15 QPR1 release, you will only get another chance towards the end of the QPR1 beta cycle in December 2024.
However, it might take till September or October before the stable Android 15 starts seeding. If you remain in the beta program, you will soon get Android 15 QPR1 beta 1, which is mostly stable.
