Most phone leading brands have been trying to help keep people’s health status in check using their devices. Samsung enabled a health monitoring app on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and now Google has joined the party as it was reported that the company is working on a built-in snore and cough detection for Android users.
Google Assistant initially got a tweak where users can check fits and Fitbit stats but the Big G didn’t stop here. 9to5google discovered a string of code on the Google health studies app that unveils that Google is working on a snore and cough detection for Android. The features were said to be part of Google’s Health sensing team’s ongoing Sleep audio collection study.
To participate in the study, you must be a full-time googler with an Android phone. Furthermore, some environmental conditions must be observed. A room must not have more than one adult sleeper who is working for a competitor company. That said, Google is providing users with a deeper insight into their sleep activity by using developed and advanced sensing algorithms and capabilities.
Similar feature with the Built-in snore and cough detection for Android
The built-in snore and cough detection for Android is said to use the phone’s microphone to record snoring and coughing events during your sleep, however, Google’s Nest Hub already houses this feature. In the part of the Nest Hub, it uses Motion Sense, which is powered by Soli Radar to track your sleep, measure breathing as well as deduce and analyse disturbing sounds.
Another notable mention is the Snore and Detect Noise on Sense and Versa 3 from Fitbit. While the snore and cough detection for Android seems like an impressive feat, it is still unsure whether it will be seen on wearables or other Android devices apart from Google’s.
