Google has been testing Android 15 since February, and it is time for the final release. The tech company released the final beta update a few days ago and we will see the stable release next month. However, Pixel users must wait for the public release as Google will only release Android 15 to AOSP.
According to reports via Android Authority, Google is ready to push Android 15 to AOSP next week. You would expect the release on Monday, but it is said to happen on September 3, 2024, being Tuesday. The reason is that Monday, September 2, 2024, is a federal holiday in the US, and many Google employees won’t be working that day.
Google has previously released the latest Android upgrade to Pixel users and AOSP simultaneously, but they are taking a different route this year. The Android Open Source Project, a public repository for Android’s source code, allows independent developers to build custom ROMs. We will likely see Android 15 custom ROMs before the stable build starts rolling out to Pixel phones.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know when Google will seed Android 15 to Pixel users. The company has refused to comment on the potential release date, but we expect it next month or October. You can follow our social media platforms to know when the update is available.
