The made by Google event saw the launch of some products – the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro and the new Pixel Watch 2. Google also announced some upcoming AI-powered features, but the Generative AI Wallpaper is currently available. However, Google has limited it to its latest flagship phones, but you can enable the Generative AI wallpaper feature on your Android phone.
Google keeps innovating, and with the Pixel 8 launch, the company wants you to have a wallpaper nobody else has seen. This can be possible when you create the wallpaper using the Generative AI-powered wallpaper feature on Pixel 8. However, other Pixel phone users can enjoy the feature, too, but it doesn’t seem to work on all of them.
With the Generative AI wallpaper feature, you can create wallpaper by choosing from a few topics and color options. After making your unique wallpaper, it’s saved on your device, and you can make adjustments any time. There’s a pencil icon to help tweak the prompt used to create it.
Google’s Generative AI wallpaper feature uses “AI-generated text-to-image diffusion model to create wallpapers.” With all the processing done server-side, we expect other Pixel phones to get the it probably with the December 2023 Feature Drop.
Meanwhile, while you can download the Generative AI wallpaper APK to enable the feature on your device running Android 14, it’s possible it won’t work. I tried it on my Pixel 6 Pro running stable Android 14, and it keeps bringing up an error message “wallpaper and styles keep crashing.” However, we have seen some people get it working on their devices – one is using Pixel Fold, and perhaps he’s running Android 14 QPR1 beta update.

Of course, you can always uninstall the AI Wallpaper APK file if it doesn’t work on your device. To download, head to Google News on Telegram. After downloading the app, install it and long press on the home screen. Tap on Wallpaper & style and click More Wallpapers, then tap the new AI Wallpaper button on the top right corner. You will be able to choose from seven different themes.
You will be able to customize different aspects of what will be generated, which includes different materials, colors, and subjects. They are underlined, and you can change to another thing when tapped.
