One would say the days of Google’s Stadia Android app are numbered. Sadly, the software will be shutting down later this month but before that, Google is rolling out a final software update. Folks at 9to5google have been tracking the updates to debut on Google’s Stadia Android app including those that later did and those that didn’t.
The gaming platform – which has been around for three years now – has been impressive in giving users a nice gaming experience on the go. Usually, the login section of Google’s Stadia Android app is noticed with Destiny 2 graphics (kind of outdated) and then a slogan that says “One place for all the way we play”. But now, there are changes via the new update.
First off, the graphics is no longer there, instead, we get a message that says “Stadia will wind down January 18, 2023. Find up-to-date information at g.co/stadia/faq”. The disappearance of the graphics could be the shutdown of the server before the final shutdown of the service. Be that as it may, there might be some changes under the hood which we will keep you posted on should we notice anything. The final update for Google’s Stadia Android app (version 4.34) can be accessed via the Play store.
The other main activity from Google’s Stadia Android app
Since Google’s Stadia Android app will be closing soon, the brand began hardware refunds sometime in November last year. Google Stadia hardware refunds aren’t just going out in the US but in other regions as well, according to sources. Talking about hardware refund, the piece of hardware from which users are getting their money back is the Stadia controller. It’s a $69 controller built specifically for the platform. The custom button layout is built with an assistant button, built-in WiFi (for communication) and Bluetooth integration.
In addition to the Google Stadia hardware refunds, it seems the brand will be refunding bundles as well which include Chromecast with Google TV(4k) and Chromecast Ultra. Users are seeing one or two refunds for hardware with an email receipt sent to their emails. As regards game refunds, Google will credit back to the original form of payment.
