Fast Pair, a feature of Google Play Services, makes it simple to set up new devices on Android right now. This includes headphones, Wear OS watches, and soon styluses and tracker tags. After doing some research, we discovered that by supporting Android phones, Google is introducing yet another type of device to Fast Pair.
Well, the Fast Pair has not been announced by the Big G, Google, however, Mishaal Rahman managed to enable the feature thus giving us a brief peep into the functionality of this feature.
How Fast Pair will work on Android phones
Rahman claims that the soon-to-be-released setup experience for Android phones will hasten the initial finding of devices during setup. New devices will broadcast their status via Fast Pair when being set up once it is available. The QR code scanner shortcut will appear in a half-screen popup on any nearby Android phone that has the functionality enabled.
On Pixel smartphones, the feature won’t display any additional steps, but it may request that you download a third-party app, such as Samsung Smart Switch, to enable setting and data transfer on devices made by other OEMs. The functionality will merely hasten the initial discovery phase, as was already mentioned. It won’t offer more options to make it easier for consumers to choose the data they want to transfer to the new phone or quicken transfer times.
With Samsung’s next Galaxy S23 series, the revolutionary setup experience powered by Fast Pair could make its debut. We’ll share more information on the experience after it goes live as the launch is only a few days away.
