Alternatives to showing verified documentation of COVID-19 vaccines are available from Apple. You can store and present a QR code or an official health record using either the Health app or Apple Wallet. You can use their camera to scan the QR code, then hit the Health app notification to add it to their Wallet and Health app. Alternatively, you can add a verifiable health record from your provider to the Health and Wallet app.

Now, let’s get started on the various ways to add your COVID19 vaccination to Apple Health and Wallet app.

1. Using a QR Code

Some vaccine providers will provide you with a QR code that you may scan with your iPhone to get your vaccination info. You can snap the front and back of your vaccination card with your Camera app, but that is not genuine proof of vaccination because you can edit and otherwise tamper with the photo.

Vaccination and test result records are downloaded in a verifiable format, similar to a digital signature, but signed by the vaccination supplier in this case. A tick in the Health app assures that verifiable health records have not been tampered with. With that in place, follow the steps below to proceed;

  • Open the Camera app and hold the rear-facing camera up to the QR code on your computer screen.
  • Your iPhone will identify the QR code when it shows in the viewfinder of the camera and opens the Health app. Next, add to Wallet and Health by tapping the Add to Wallet and Health icon. Your vaccination records will then be shown in both areas.
  • That’s all. In the Wallet app, you can view and display the card at any moment. Meanwhile, your name, vaccine type, dose dates, provider, and QR code are all printed on the card.

2. Using a Downloadable File

In the Health and Wallet app, you can also download and save verifiable vaccination and test result records. To proceed, follow the steps below:

  • Request a downloaded health record of your COVID-19 vaccine information, depending on how your health provider operates. Make sure you select a COVID-19 vaccine information downloadable file.
  • To add the record to the Health and Wallet apps, tap Add to Wallet & Health.
  • With that put in place, you’re done.
