The primary function of a VPN is to keep your data safe and anonymous on the internet. But since there are many of them available today, it has become difficult to know the ones that actually do these things. But that’s why companies like Google are there – to make sure these apps stick to their primary objectives. With the introduction of the Verified Badge, users can now find secure VPN easily.

The Verified badge appears in the search results and the app’s details page. It tells users that the supposed VPN app has passed through Play Safety and Security Guidelines. Also, it has acquired a Mobile Application Security Assessment (MASA) Level 2 validation.
How would the Verified badge help to choose the best VPN
There are currently loads of VPN providers, each promising to be the best. With the Verified badge, any VPN app that has it will stand out in an already crowded market. For the users, it will be easy to choose the best VPN out of the bad ones.
Aside from the badge, you can see other information like the Data safety panel. It tells you how your data is handled by the VPN company. This includes the information they collect, whether it is shared with third parties, and if audits have been conducted and other things.
So, if you’re looking for a VPN to download, make sure it has the Verified Badge. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that VPNs without the badge are unsafe, we recommend choosing verified ones until others meet the required security standards.
VPN with the Verified badge on Play Store
So far, only a few companies have earned the Verified badge on the Play Store. You can follow the source link to learn how they achieved it. Perhaps more VPNs will be added to the list in the coming weeks, but below are the ones Google is recommending.
- NordVPN
- hide.me
- Aloha
We understand it’s not the first time Google has added some badges to apps on the Play Store. They did something similar with Government-made apps last year to help users identify legitimate apps released by their government branches. We expect the same initiative to arrive soon for a marketplace with loads of apps in the future.
