How To Find a Lost Apple TV Siri Remote on iOS 17

For iPhone users who own an Apple TV, the seamless integration between these devices offers a familiar and convenient experience. With the ability to download apps, install tvOS beta builds, and enjoy movies and TV shows, the Apple TV has become a preferred TV box for iOS 17 and later versions.

One remarkable feature that enhances this user experience is the capability to find a lost Siri Remote using an Apple smartphone. In this guide, we’ll show you the steps on  how to find a lost Apple TV Siri Remote on iOS 17 with ease. So, let’s dive in!

Basic Steps To Find a Lost Apple TV Siri Remote on iOS 17

  • To begin, launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Next, locate and access the Control Center section. If the toggle for the Apple TV Remote is not already included in the Control Center, click on the plus (+) icon next to it to add it to the list of controls.
  • Exit the Settings app and return to the home screen. Now, swipe down from the top-right corner or up from the bottom (depending on your iPhone model) to open the Control Center.
  • Within the Control Center, find the Apple TV Remote toggle and tap on it to activate it.
  • Upon activating the Apple TV Remote, you will see the name of your Apple TV displayed at the top of the Control Center. Tap on it to proceed.
  • After selecting your Apple TV, a “Find” button will appear next to its name. Tap this button to initiate the search for your lost Siri Remote.
  • Your iOS device will now guide you through the process of locating your lost Siri Remote. Follow the on-screen instructions until you successfully find it.

The introduction of this feature has significantly simplified the process of finding a misplaced Siri Remote. Before this integration, locating a lost remote was a more challenging task as users had no means to determine its approximate location. Given the small size of the Siri Remote, it often got lost between couch cushions or under furniture, further complicating the search process.

Meanwhile, iOS uses a mechanism similar to the one used for pinging an AirTag through the Find My app to locate the Siri Remote, But, unlike AirTags, the Siri Remote does not have a built-in speaker to emit sounds. Instead, your iPhone relies on the wireless signal strength to detect the remote’s proximity.

Consequently, this feature works most reliably within the confines of your home. If you happen to lose the Siri Remote in a public location, such as outside or in a public establishment, it may not be detected by other Apple devices within the Find My network. Hence, you will not receive updates on its location, nor will you be able to view it on the map.
