While voice notes are easier to send than typing notes, some people prefer to read instead of listening. In addition, some conditions require making reading more convenient, and with the latest WhatsApp update, you now have an option.
WhatsApp is introducing Voice Note Transcripts. The feature is available on Snapchat and seems to work the same way. Hence, we know how the Voice Note Transcripts will work on WhatsApp. What it does is transcribe a voice message into text, allowing you to read it.
According to WhatsApp, it’s an on-device operation, meaning no one or even WhatsApp can hear or read the transcribed message. But that’s what end-to-end encryption does, and it is one of WhatsApp’s security features.
Meanwhile, some languages are not supported, and this varies between operating systems. On Android, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian are supported. On iOS 16, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Korean, Chinese, and Arabic are supported. If you are on iOS 17 and later, there is support for Danish, Finnish, Hebrew, Malay, Norwegian, Dutch, Swedish, and Thai.

Meanwhile, the new feature is rolling out in batches globally. It will take some time to arrive on your device. Also, more languages will be added.
