Google rolled out the January security patch for Google Pixel smartphones and rolled out the Google Play system update afterwards. Well, the brand is extending the update rollout to the Google Pixel Watch, by that, I mean, the January 2023 security patch is now available on the wearable.
The new OTA update(bringing in the January 2023 security patch to the wearable) is taking up build number RWD9.220429.073, however, watches in Japan and Taiwan will be taking up build number RWD9.220429.073.J1. Speaking of features present in the update, Google highlighted one feature that was fixed via the software update. The fix is related to watches with older clock faces that do not use Jetpack Watch face Library.
- Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 mins with always on display (AOD) enabled.
Meanwhile, there’s an anticipated feature, the Fall detection feature expected on the Google Pixel smartwatch, however, this update didn’t bring it in. It’s not present in the Safety and Emergency menu nor did it prompt you to install the feature after downloading the update. That said, you will simply have to reset your watch to get the feature – although the feature is set to debut in Winter 2023.
Other changes from the update haven’t been noticed but that of December brought fixes, this should also bring in more fixes but as time goes on, we’ll tell what the brand has integrated into this update.
