Google has released the January 2025 security patch update, but the Play system update has yet to be seeded. The company has detailed all the changes coming with it, but we do not know when the update will become available.
Most Pixel phones are still running the November 2024 Play system update, which is not surprising, given how the updates are released. Nevertheless, we know what to expect when it finally starts rolling out. According to the changelog, Google is not making many changes, as only a few additions appeared this time.
Meanwhile, the Play system update consists of about 11 apps. They include the Play Store, Settings services, Android WebView, and more. With each new release note, Google details changes it’s making across Android phones/Tablet, Wear OS, Google/Android TV, Android Auto, and PC.
This time, only the Play Store is getting new changes, which appear on the changelog below. Meanwhile, it might take months before becoming widely available, just like most Android phones are running the November Play system update.
