On account of the Android One policy, which says all phones released under the family are eligible for “at least” two OS upgrades and three years of support, Xiaomi is currently pushing a new update to eligible units. The company launched the phone in 2018 with Android 8.1 and it has since picked up Android 9 and 10. According to the Android One policy, that’s the end of OS support for the device. However, it’s still eligible for security patch updates for the next few months, and going by a recent report, the January security patch update for Mi A2 has been released.
The January security patch update for Mi A2 is hitting eligible users with a version number – V11.0.20.0 QDIMIXM. It is currently rolling out for everyone but might take some time before appearing on your device. However, you can manually scan for a new update via System Updates. We also have a link below this post, and you access the build through the link.
As per the changelog, the update only brings the monthly security patch to improved security and stability. It has also optimized performance and fixed bugs. However, we are yet to learn if the update has fixed any of the previously reported bugs. That seems unlikely, though, given how long it’s taking to fix some of these bugs.

Nevertheless, the recent update is safe and didn’t introduce any bugs. Therefore you should go ahead and install it when prompted to improve your device security and performance. And if you’re running the build already, we would like to know if there’s any improvement as regards the known bugs.
