A lot of activities have been going on with Android Auto. From a series of beta releases to the just released Coolwalk redesign which has been anticipated for a very long time. That said, there seems to be a shortcoming in the new revamp. The latest Android Auto UI removes the weather icon.
It seems history repeats itself again and again as the Android Auto UI removes the weather icon. By that, we mean, the Android Auto weather icon has always been removed and added several times. Looking back at the original Android Auto, there was always the weather card that showed up on the home screen. However, in 2019, it was another confused state as the then Android Auto UI removed the weather icon.
As the days go by, “Android Auto UI removes the weather icon” and “Android Auto UI brings back the weather icon” is what have been going on time and time again. When it appeared, it was seen on the top status bar other than the weather card. Well, the feature just recently disappeared and reports say there’s a fix in the works – at least, that’s what the Google Forum support page says.
Android Auto UI removes the weather icon: the unfortunate situation
Even though it is confirmed from the Google Forum support page that the weather icon has been restored, the new Android Auto removes the weather icon(as in the new Coolwalk redesign). That’s because the original position where the weather icon occupies (the top status bar) is no longer present in the new Coolwalk redesign.
Instead, there’s a bottom status bar that bears apps and widgets as well as a shortcut to notifications. The original top status bar houses just the battery bar, network strength and time with no sight of the weather icon – so sad. Well, the Coolwalk redesign isn’t currently available for all users just yet – it’s still for the closed beta platform. We hope Google takes note of this and implements the weather icon in whichever way.
