Google has released the source code of the latest version of Android – Android 12. Although the company is yet to release the stable version of Pixel owners, developers are already releasing Android 12-based custom ROMs. Also, OEMs like Xiaomi have released the update to their device as a Stable Beta build. The idea is to preview the build before it starts pushing it to the public in the coming months. So far, only a few Xiaomi phones have received the ‘stable beta’ build, while many are currently testing Android 12 update internally.
Xiaomi has stages for every new Android OS update. The company starts testing the build internally (developers) before moving it to closed beta groups in China. After that, it will be released to Mi Pilots before the public release. Of course, that takes months, but for every Xiaomi phone testing the Android 12 update currently, it means it will receive the stable version in the coming weeks.
Google might be planning to release the stable Android 12 update to Pixel owners after Pixel 6 and 6 Pro unveiling. The company’s upcoming premium phone will be announced on October 19, and it will run Android 12 outside of the box. We expect the rollout to older Pixel phones to commence after the unveiling. Also, Xiaomi is expected to start pushing the stable version of Android 12 in the coming weeks, according to Google. And since the stable beta builds are already in circulation, we expect those in the Chinese branch of MIUI to receive stable Android 12 from next month.
And with the likes of Mi 11, Mi 11 Ultra/Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro/Plus/ Mi 11i expected to receive the update first, below are the list of Xiaomi phones testing Android 12 update that’ll join after.
